Gallery and Curator to Team Up Again
To cap off their Spring lineup, Vestige Concept Gallery in Lawrenceville will again be presenting their New Appalachia Mixed Exhibition in collaboration with Kyle Houser, Director of Pittsburgh Center For Arts & Media (PCA&M). Having weathered the sea of changes and uncertainties throughout the pandemic and business consolidation, PCA&M had been due for a big “reset,” coincidentally, at the time Vestige opened their doors in early 2021. “It was a fresh start for the arts, and for both organizations,”
says Vestige owner Alexander Sands. “We shared a strong desire to launch a new and brighter chapter, and we hit things off immediately.” To celebrate their beginnings, the duo teamed up for “New Appalachia,” a contemporary exhibit that showcases the latest and most promising local and national emerging artist talent.
Following the success of the 2021 show, they decided to team up again in 2022. “I had a lot of fun working with Vestige,” says Houser. “Outreach with local galleries is an important part of the PCA&M mission, and it was freeing to work with something that was just starting, and be invited to curate other spaces, outside of running the center.”
Interested artists can apply by April 15th, through the gallery website. The 2022 Exhibit opens Saturday April 30th.
