Sunworn Waller

Post Rustbelt: Living Between America

Post-Rustbelt: Living Between America captures the artistic experience of life in “Middle America” during the decades following the decline of industry (mid 1970’s) to the turn of the Millennium. These rustbelt states are most often thought to include New York, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Maryland, Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Kentucky, Illinois, Wisconsin, and Minnesota.

In a world of increasing polarization and conflict, those who do not choose sides are left to wonder where to stand. "Neutral Ground" seeks to create a zone of peace by displaying works of art that are free from heavy sensory output including themes and messages, whether intentional or not. Softness, harmony, balance--works in this exhibition incorporate neutral tones, such as white, greys, soft blacks, and beige.
